Freedom in Christ

Deliverance through the Word

If you are oppressed by darkness — in the night, in your thoughts, in your everyday life — Jesus Christ can set you free. No matter how long it has been with you.

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36

If you are suffering and being oppressed by evil spirits — in the night, in your thoughts, in your dreams or in everyday life — the Lord Jesus Christ will set you free. You don’t have to live a life of torment, no matter how long the darkness has been with you. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. If you are truly willing, the Lord will set you free.

Before you begin

Deliverance is for the desperate — these are very serious issues. A person needs to be sincere, honest and open, and willing to confess all sin; any hidden sin makes deliverance very difficult. A real desire and a humble heart to know Jesus Christ personally and genuinely will result in freedom from spiritual oppression.

True deliverance is not only “come out, Satan”. It is co-labouring with a person until Christ is formed in them — getting Jesus into a person, and building in them their true identity as a new creation. True power is this: to be free from yourself, the past, the hurt, the pain, and every lie you have ever believed.

Follow these steps

  1. 1
    Repent and believe the Gospel.

Stop all spiritual warfare — binding and loosing against principalities and powers. Repent of it immediately.

  2. 2
    Get baptised

    — if you have not already.

  3. 3
Get baptised in the Holy Spirit.

This is evident by a transformation inside — a heart change, and good fruit.

  4. 4
Read and believe the Word of God each day.

    This is your spiritual food.

  5. 5
Join a Bible-believing church of believers

    — and follow the commands of Christ.

  6. 6
    Renew your mind.

Aim for the mind of Christ.

  7. 7
Live a holy and sanctified life,

    with regular prayer and fasting.

The result: the darkness will start to leave. Demons, curses and all spiritual darkness will begin to go. It is a process — but you can do this.

The enemy relies on your ignorance — on you not knowing and not believing the truth — to keep you bound. You must forgive others as Christ has forgiven you. This is the one thing most people who confess Christ struggle with. Forgive, repent, and turn away from all sin. Jesus Christ is already Lord — but you must make Him Lord of your life.

What the Word says about your freedom

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Colossians 1:13
And you, being dead in your trespasses… He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us… And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:13–15

Jesus Christ, through the sacrifice of the cross — death, burial and resurrection — paid for all our sins and iniquities. He wiped it out and nailed it to the cross. He then disarmed all principalities and powers. The truth is that Jesus Christ has already set you free. You just need to believe, get discipled, and walk out your new freedom. He is the risen Lord, above every demonic kingdom — He has the pre-eminence.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10–11

Freedom is within your reach

If you believe these spiritual truths, all other spirits will start to leave — one by one, the weakest first. The timeline depends on the depths of darkness you have been involved in. These entities do not want to leave; they will wait to see if you are serious. They may try to hang around and frighten you with dark dreams and torment, to induce fear and keep you in bondage.

You are not alone. Don’t believe the lie. They want you to stop — to not know the truth that Jesus Christ has, by the cross, already set you free. This is why you must continue and finish, until every one has gone. And they will go. This is guaranteed. Be bold and courageous, and ask Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, to help you.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. — James 4:7

How Garston Community Church helps

The information on this page is here to help those being tormented find freedom. We are not a deliverance ministry, and we are not able to make appointments to deal with serious issues. We are a full-Gospel church that trains and equips believers for the work of ministry.

Serious situations are best resolved locally, through discipleship in a Bible-believing church that will come alongside you. It is a process, not a quick fix. We encourage you to find such a church near you.

Start with repentance — turning to Jesus Christ. He is faithful, and the freedom He gives is real.

COME EXPECTING. LEAVE ENCOURAGED. LIVE EMPOWERED.
