The Mandate of the Church
At Garston Community Church, we believe the Church has a God-ordained purpose and responsibility in accordance with Ephesians 4:11–13 — to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, and to bring all believers into maturity in Christ.
[And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” — Ephesians 4:11–12]
The Mission of the Church
The Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ by:
- Preaching the Gospel to the lost, calling people to repentance, baptism, and new life through being born again of the Holy Spirit.
- Teaching believers to observe all that Christ commanded (Matthew 28:20), leading them into spiritual maturity and personal discipleship.
- Helping each person discover and walk in the good works God has prepared for them (Ephesians 2:10).
- Supporting believers as they throw off the old self and its desires, and put on the new man — Christlikeness in character and conduct.
“Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” — Colossians 3:9–10
A Life Transformed in Christ
The Christian walk involves daily transformation:
- To become a role model in the home, workplace, and society
- To work out one's salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12)
- To live holy, peaceful lives, ceasing from sin and walking in the Spirit
- To overcome temptation and endure to the end (Revelation 3:5)
We are called to grow in love for God and fulfil the third great commandment — to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34).
Continuing the Great Commission
The Church is Christ’s body on earth — carrying out His mission as born again believers. GCC is actively committed to the great commission and have been attending for the last 8 years bi-monthly in our locality. Please see here :
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to:
- Preach the gospel to the poor
- Heal the broken-hearted
- Proclaim liberty to the captives
- Bring sight to the blind
- Set free the oppressed
Proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord” — Luke 4:18–19
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are called to disciple, train, teach, and equip believers to live in freedom, truth, and holiness — separated from the world and consecrated to God.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17
Our Ongoing Call
The Christian life is not a one-time decision, but an ongoing call to:
- Keep believing in Jesus Christ
- Live righteously
- Practice holiness
- Be set apart and consecrated
- Bring heaven to earth in every area of life
- Walk in victory until Christ returns
This is our mission. This is our mandate. This is the life of a believer. We are all saved for something, find out what good works God has for you to walk in. We will all die and see the Lord, it would be good to have a long history with the Lord. Our relationship and love for God causes us to live for Him while we are here. Get involved, be part of the family of God which is always working through the Holy Spirit.
Let us continue to be faithful, empowered, and fruitful — to the glory of God.
