Church Conduct – Honouring Christ in Our Fellowship

Church Conduct – Living as the Body of Christ

At Garston Community Church, we believe the church is more than a building — it is the body of Christ, and Christ Himself is the Head. As such, our conduct reflects this sacred identity. Each week, when we gather as His people, we come not to a club, a social venue, or a casual hangout, but to the meeting place of God's people — a Holy assembly and gathering and our conduct must be in line with the word of God. Peter shares this with us in 1 Peter 2.9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light]

Reverence and Respect

We are called to treat one another not according to the customs of the world but as brothers and sisters in Christ. Every individual is to be honoured, respected, and loved in holiness. Our conversations, interactions, and attitudes must reflect the purity of heart that Christ calls us to walk in.

"As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct." — 1 Peter 1:14–15

Holiness and Relationships

We believe in holiness in every area of life — including relationships. While we recognise that godly relationships may form within the church, we encourage all relationships to be approached prayerfully, with honour, purity, and with a view toward biblical marriage and the family unit God has ordained.

This includes the practice of self-control, guarding our hearts, and maintaining the boundaries that honour both the Lord and each other.

“Let marriage be held in honour among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled.” — Hebrews 13:4

Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, 2  older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity.1 Timothy 5

“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.” — Ephesians 5:3

A Call to Walk Worthy

Church is a place of worship, growth, and preparation — where we are being made ready for the return of Christ. Let us walk in a manner worthy of the calling we have received, with humility, purity, and love.

“I therefore… beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.”  Ephesians 4:1
