This is aimed at somebody in here today — I don't know who — anybody going through a really bad time, really struggling, maybe keeping it to yourself. At the moment I'm going through a bit of a rough patch myself. I've had a really good run, the Lord has really blessed me, and now it's an accumulation of lots of things and it's tiring, it's dragging me down. But I thank God for it. The way I look at it is this: if I'd had this rough patch before I was baptized, the anger would have got me, revenge, all sorts of horrible thoughts, blaming everybody, probably even blaming God. But I know I'll get through this one, because Jesus is there.
So if you're struggling, think back to before you were baptized — would you have got through what you're going through now? Because you've got Jesus, you can. There are some words I want to say, I'm not sure if they're biblical but they're in a hymn: "When the road is rough and steep, fix your eyes upon Jesus. He alone has power to keep. He is a gracious friend, and He will be with you to the end." However rough, however steep that hill is — fix your eyes upon Him.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.
