Eyesight And A Job · Sunday 7 June 2026

I'm going through a little season at the moment of stepping back from the personal outreaches, so I have more time to spend with my family and do things I'd been putting off. I'd encourage you to do the same — take stock of your life and see what's happening.

For a number of weeks, even months, I'd felt that my long-distance glasses weren't right. When I was driving and took them off, I could see as well as — or better than — with them on. So I said, "What's wrong here?" Last Friday I had the chance to go to the opticians in Asda. The lady who saw me was a Hindu lady. As she took my details, I asked how long she'd been working there, and she said four years. She told me she was looking for a permanent job, but they don't do permanent jobs there. I said, "I know a person who can do the impossible. Can I pray for you?" She said yes. So I prayed in the name of Jesus that she would have a permanent job — and as I prayed, she kept adding things to the prayer.

Then the optician tested my eyes and said, "I think your eyesight is actually better now than the glasses you have." She confirmed it: "You're right, your eyesight has improved." That's quite unusual — unless a previous prescription was wrong, it's God. I'm also getting fitter, doing more walks.

She said the glasses would take about two to three weeks. But I got a text message six days later, so I went back this Thursday. There was only one lady there — the very lady I had prayed for. I sat down, and she said, "I got the job." Four years she had looked for that job. Normally I'd have been out on outreach, but I'm in a season of rest with family — and the Lord is still speaking. I give him all the glory and all the praise. Hallelujah.

✠️ FROM THE WORD
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

— John 3:16 (KJV)

What did the Lord say to you while reading this — and what will you do about it before the week is out?
