Precious Faith
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2.Peter 1-4]
Precious Faith
What a beautiful passage of Scripture! It is filled with precious promises for us to meditate upon and hold firmly in our hearts.
It is like a treasure chest overflowing with jewels, gold coins and rubies, treasures we can draw upon and use in every season of life.
What are some of these treasures?
• Righteousness — through Jesus Christ, we have been made right with God.
• Grace — God’s undeserved favour is freely given to us.
• Peace — the Prince of Peace lives within us.
• Life — Jesus has called us to an abundant and fruitful life.
• Godliness — His divine power gives us everything we need to live for Him.
• Virtue — the moral excellence and character of Christ being formed within us.
• Precious promises — God has given us exceedingly great promises upon which we can confidently build our lives.
One of my favourite truths is that we have become partakers of the divine nature.
Through the life and power of Holy Spirit working within us, we can strive to live Holy, wholesome and godly lives while escaping the corruption of this world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
What makes this even more wonderful is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. He brings this new nature to life within us.
He draws out new desires, attitudes and ways of living that agree with the holiness of heaven.
Praise God!
Take some time today and over the weekend to meditate upon these wonderful truths. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a deeper understanding of everything God has placed within you.
I pray that we will continue to grow in our precious faith; that we will see the unseen, believe God for the impossible and accomplish everything He has called us to do, not through our own strength, but through His divine power working within us.
Blessed be our living God, who has made us partakers of His divine nature and has given us so many exceedingly great and precious promises through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
