Testimony
This is to do with sharing the gospel, and how Christ changes what you see. The last few weeks I had been watching a lot of people evangelising on the street, and I'd been getting a little frustrated with the way some of them were doing it — I felt they weren't doing Jesus justice.
One day at work I asked my boss if I could use his podcast setup. He asked, "Is it about Jesus?" I said yes. He said no. I said, "Why?" He said, "I don't like Jesus." I said, "But you don't even know him — how can you not like him?" A colleague explained it to me: he had been hearing people talk about Jesus, but what he was getting was not Jesus Christ. He was seeing the reactions of people who are supposed to be Christians, and they weren't right.
Then the Lord said to me: even though this is what you see — what about you, and the way that you walk? As Christians, we should be walking like Christ. If you're going to promote Jesus, you need to know him to be able to promote him — to walk in his ways, in love, and to deliver in gentleness. His light should be shining through me, not me forcing what I believe onto people.
And sharing the gospel is not just words — it's sharing what he has done in your life. Your testimony can make a difference wherever you are: at work, in a shop, walking down the street. If someone opens the door to you, they might be ready to listen.
Then I found this scripture: "Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill… What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice." Everyone gets to hear his name, no matter how — but we have to walk out like Christ.
When we were out on outreach on Saturday, giving out our tracts, somebody was giving out his: a leaflet for an astrologer, spiritual healer and psychic reader — marriage problems, money problems, and he even says Jesus prayers. It is all deception — and when I was younger, that is the person I would have gone to, because I didn't know Christ.
So when we're out there: walk like Christ, walk in love, walk in his spirit. The only way you can give Jesus is if you abide in him. He's awesome, he's wonderful, he continues to change my life — and he can change everybody else's.
