Weather Held Off · Sunday 22 February 2026

I'd never pray for good weather on a church event day, because there are thousands of churches up and down the country holding events every Saturday, and why should we have good weather and not them? But I've found that every single time this church has done something, the weather has held. We've had events where the forecast was atrocious — hail, rain, wind all coming down as we tried to set up — and then suddenly it stops, the sun comes out, and we don't even need to wipe down the chairs. Yesterday's forecast was horrendous too, and again the Lord held it off. I really believe it's God intervening in the work this church is doing. A while back there was a joint outreach with other churches in the area — the forecast was bad and the other churches cancelled, but this church turned up. And you know what, church? Jesus had an appointment too — a horrifying appointment on the cross — and he didn't turn up, did he? So why should we not? I'm so thankful to be part of a congregation that turns up for everything.

✠️ FROM THE WORD
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

— John 3:16 (KJV)

What did the Lord say to you while reading this — and what will you do about it before the week is out?
