You Are Loved · Sunday 4 October 2026

Yesterday's outreach was an awesome, warm day - so many of us attended that we ran out of Bibles. And we know that all the conversations and prayers are sowing seeds for the kingdom.

You'll recall I took a few months' break from my own personal outreaches. Recently I went back to the station in town, quietly, just to test the water. By the sign outside the station there's a planter with a seat around it, and one man was sitting there. He was the first person I gave a tract to. He asked what it was; I said it was about Jesus, and asked if he was okay. He said: not really. He had cancer, his fiancee had left him, and there were many things wrong. And he said: I've come here tonight to end my life.

I asked if I could pray for him. He said, "I can't stop you." I sat down and asked again. He said yes. So I prayed for him - and there were tears, and more tears. I told him: you are loved. God loves you so much - as much as he loves me - and he has a never-ending river of love you can tap into. He said, "No one ever told me that before."

I asked if I could give him a hug. He was taller than me - it was like the father embracing the son, and there were more tears on my shoulder. I gave him the Father's Love Letter and a Bible I had with me. As he crossed the street to walk back, he said: I think you might have saved my life tonight. He had been reaching out - he didn't really want to die. I called across the road after him, and he stopped and looked. I said: you're loved. God loves you, and I love you. He went away knowing he was loved by at least two people - and the one who matters most is Jesus Christ.

Then on Friday's high-street outreach, a group of ten or eleven teenage boys came along, a little bit boisterous. I said: guys, do you know the Lord has a plan for you - a hope and a future? One boy said, "I want to know more about that." So I took him to the table. He believed in Jesus, believed he died and rose again and is coming back - but had no Bible. I gave him one, and he invited Jesus Christ to be Lord of his life and the Holy Spirit to dwell in him, and I prayed for him - while his friends chatted in the background. God's timing, truly amazing.

Then a lady came along and said: I believe, I believe. I asked how she believed. She said, "He healed my knees." But she had an anxious heart, she said. So I prayed with her, and she came back and said, "I'm better." Had she ever gone to a church? Never. So I've invited her to come. There are people out there who believe but aren't part of a church - so when we go out, let's extend the invitation. I give the Lord all the praise and the glory for his timing.

✠️ FROM THE WORD
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

— John 3:16 (KJV)

What did the Lord say to you while reading this — and what will you do about it before the week is out?
