Testimony
First, the Lord put on my heart to say that no prayer and no request is ever too small. He sees value in everything — there's no greater and no smaller; it's all on the same level with him, because he values us.
The other thing God put on my heart is about covenant — husbands and wives. Over the month, two friends of mine have been going through issues in their marriages. One of them knew the old me, and now she sees the transforming me — and that has encouraged her to draw nearer to the Lord; she's been talking more about God, and in her marriage.
Your marriage symbolises the relationship we ought to have with God: intimate, with him and him alone. Husbands and wives, we are Jesus to each other — when they look at us, they ought to see Jesus. And what did Jesus do? He laid his life down for us. The first place, after the Lord, where your partner ought to know they are safe and comforted, is with you.
My husband always says that every argument, every up and down, and the good times too, are there to help us grow. In the beginning I couldn't understand it, but God opened my eyes, because I desired to be the wife God has called me to be. And the first place is intimacy with him — my husband can't see Jesus in me if I don't first know Jesus. Because of the relationship our little one sees between my husband and myself, he talks about his family and wants to go nowhere unless we're both going with him. That is the inheritance we want to pass on for generations to come.
In my own marriage I am mindful of how I speak to my husband. When I speak out of turn, the Holy Spirit convicts me and I apologise — that is what relationship is. And with my friend going through turmoil with her husband, never once have I said "you ought to leave him." That is not my place — because God is about unity and reconciliation, and nothing is too great that God can't restore. But you have to want it.
Church, we ought to show others Jesus — not just to speak his name, but to show his name through our actions.
