Testimony
I've got a number of testimonies, but they can wait until next week - I just want to speak up for Reformation Day. I think it's brilliant that this church is going to remember the Reformation: all the martyrs, all the heroes, and all the suffering they went through.
We know the Reformation started in Germany under Luther and his writings, but this land was at the heart of it. Such heroes - people burned at the stake, people who suffered severely so that the Bible could be translated from Greek and Latin into English for the common people. They knew what they were up against, they knew what was coming to them, and they still stood up for what God wanted them to do. They were tortured and they would not recant - not one of them. The Reformation is part of this country's story, and God's hand was in it - the land was protected through every assault and planned invasion that followed.
I don't think they learn about this in schools any more, so it will be really enlightening - real commitment, real sacrifice. And what a way to spend the 31st of October: instead of celebrating the demonic at Halloween, come and remember something that was for God. I just want to say: support the pastor on Reformation Day. I know I'm really looking forward to it.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

What did the Lord say to you while reading this — and what will you do about it before the week is out?
