Testimony
The greatest gift of all is the love of God, because Jesus is love and the Father is love. But sometimes we don't see it, because we want Him to show up in the way we think He should — and He shows up in ways we sometimes don't even recognise until hindsight. That's why it is always important to give thanks in every situation.
A couple of weeks ago a colleague of mine was having an issue with her phone and her bank — she couldn't see her bank account in the app. She wanted to go to the bank to sort it out, but I said, "If it's just your password, this is what you do," and I showed her. She sorted it and was rejoicing. We didn't know what God was planning.
The following day I messaged her to ask how she was doing, and she said, "You won't believe the evening I had." When she went to pick up her car, it had been clamped — £1,300 in tickets. She had moved house and updated the address on her driving licence, but not her log book, so all the tickets had been going to her previous address without her knowing.
Then something was highlighted to me. I asked her, "How did you manage to pay for them to come and take the clamp off?" Through the online banking app. If that hadn't been sorted the day before, she would not have been able to pay for the clamp to be removed — and who knows how long it would have taken her.
And here is the thing: that same morning, God had given her a scripture — in everything give thanks. The thing she had to give thanks for was that one simple fix allowed her to solve something much bigger. I said to her, thank God your car even got clamped — because otherwise you wouldn't have known about all those tickets, and the amount would have kept going up while you were unaware.
Yes, £1,300 is a lot. But your Father in heaven is the provider, and He can provide for all your needs if you trust in Him. This is the goodness of God — one thing being corrected affected everything else that happened that afternoon. So give thanks in every situation, no matter how bad it seems.
