Testimony

From Death To Life · Sunday 4 October 2026

Something that was shared this morning prompted me to get up - I wasn't going to. The man at the station who wanted to end his life: that was me, just a few years ago. That was me every single day. It's what I would think about on a daily basis - that I wanted to exit this life completely, because there was nothing to keep me here. It's really extraordinary how the Lord turned all of that around.

I had a birthday this week. On my birthday I was driving to a cafe, and I prayed: Lord, today let me meet someone I can be a blessing to, or who can be a blessing to me. I'd taken my Bible and a notebook. I sat down in the cafe with my Bible open at Matthew. It was a beautiful day - the blue of the sky was brighter than I'd ever known it, and the white of the clouds was extraordinary.

An old lady came over and asked if she could sit with me - she was 88, there with her daughter, visiting from Lincolnshire, so far away. She said: I see you're reading the Bible. And I'd just been looking at those clouds, almost close enough to touch, so I said: do you know Jesus is coming on the clouds? From that moment I must have spent an hour and a half talking with them about Jesus - as if I'd known them forever. I reached into my pocket and found I had exactly two blessing cards, one for each of them. It was a divine appointment: the Lord answered that prayer within five minutes.

And none of it would have been possible without the life the Lord has given me. At one time I was like that man who wanted to end his life - and it wasn't that long ago. Now I get to speak life to people, and they can encounter Jesus through me, however badly I articulate it. Yesterday at outreach I played my piano there for the first time - how is that even possible? A person who wanted to end their life every single day, out worshipping God. And we got to give Bibles to a group of scouts who came rushing to the table asking for them. It really blessed my heart.

I just want to give glory to God for passing me from death to life.

✠️ FROM THE WORD
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

— Romans 8:28 (KJV)

What did the Lord say to you while reading this — and what will you do about it before the week is out?
