God Is Spirit — The Great I AM · Sunday 17 May 2026

Just to share a word, really, because this morning, we had some music playing, some gospel song that we love to play continuously, and the guy was saying something, and he mentioned something about God's name, and one of the other parts of this song is, where he talks about, he said, Alpha and Omega and everything in between, you know? Basically, he's just talking about the fact that God is the beginning and the end, and everything in between, and it just got me thinking about God's name, because often we talk about, oh, you know, he was saying it this morning, you know, we talk about, bless your holy name, and worship your holy name, and we talk about the name a lot, but God really made me stop to think about that time when Moses said to him, who shall I go to pray around? Let me go to these people, the Israelites, and say, this God told me that, you know, he wants you to let my people go. What name shall I give these people? And God said, so I tried to look at the Hebrew, right? And God said, which means, you know, that word can be translated as I am, I will be, or I am coming, and when I thought of that, it made my skin tingle, you know, because we talk a lot about Alpha and Omega, God is everlasting, et cetera, but this is God saying directly to Moses, I am, I will be, I am becoming, you know? He was basically conveying to Moses that he is not this thing, and I think I said it before in a previous testimony, he's not like any other God that just has a name like the sun god, or whatever it is. He basically was saying, I am the everlasting. You can't define me, you know, so God just was reminding me of that today, and the pastor keeps talking all today about the spirit, and the Holy Spirit, you know, and even in my thoughts this morning, I was thinking about the passage where it says that God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship him with the spirit of truth. I think sometimes we abstract God into this object, or this person that we just, you know, like some man up there in the sky, but God is actually a spirit, and the interesting thing about God's spirit is that God's spirit is all-encompassing. God's spirit is everywhere. You know, if you think of the wind, if you think of air, you know, we cannot survive without air. No animal on this planet can survive without air. No plant can survive without air. God basically is saying that I am the existence of everything, and without me, nothing exists. So I just wanted to share that with the church this morning, because sometimes we need to be reminded, I need to be reminded of that. Regardless of what you are going through, and even if you're not going through anything tough, you know, just at any given day, you just need to remember, God is, God is, He is like, I am who I am, I will be who I will be, you know, and that covers everything that we need. So I just wanted to share that with the church.

✠️ FROM THE WORD
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

— Revelation 1:8 (KJV)

When you pray, who is the God you’re picturing — and does He match the everlasting I AM who is here right now?
